Dean Hodges is a Seattle based jazz drummer who's played and recorded with an enormous array of great musicians in his nearly four decades of drumming in Seattle. Dean is a graduate of the Oscar Peterson’s Advanced School of Contemporary Music in Toronto, Canada. He is much admired in the Jazz community and is recognized for his tasteful manner and solid music style. He has received the best drummer award by the Northwest Area Musicians Assoc. (NAMA) and was recently put into the Golden Ear Jazz Hall of Fame.

Seattle drummer Dean Hodges, mastering recording sessions and live performances which in the last 3 decades has performed 90% of the time in the Seattle area, which includes appearances at clubs such as Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley and at Jazz Festivals including the Kool Jazz Festival, The SS Norway Floating Jazz Festival, The Du Maurier Jazz Festival, The Ottawa Jazz Festival, and Clearwater Jazz Festival. He has shared the bandstand with countless visiting and resident musicians, including; The Bud Shank Quartet, Joe Williams, Larry Coryell, George Cables, Monty Alexander and Ernestine Anderson. His recording credits include over 35 CD’s with musicians as Don Lanphere, Bud Shank, Larry Coryell, Jay Clayton, Diane Schuur, Ralph Towner, Gary Peacock, Nancy King, Jack Brownlow, and Dave Peck who's Cd won the "Earshot jazz award" for best new release of the year.  Just to name a few.

Dean has been a part of Bud Shank’s, Jazz Port Townsend for the last 25 years where he has taught and performed with not only the elite of Jazz but the new and upcoming musicians that he has enjoyed teaching.

Dean has become one of the cities most highly respected musicians and is thankful for all the opportunities he has had to showcase his talent, here at home.
